Tottenham 3-1 Aston Villa: Kane seals comeback as Ndombele hits debut PL goal

Harry Kane scored a late double after Tanguy Ndombele's stunning debut strike set Tottenham on their way to a comeback win over Aston Villa.

Tanguy Ndombele scored a sensational debut goal as Tottenham came from behind to beat Premier League new boys Aston Villa 3-1 thanks to Harry Kane's late double.

John McGinn's ninth-minute goal seemed set to mark Villa's return to the top flight in style, with Champions League finalists Spurs – playing without the benched Christian Eriksen for over an hour – struggling to break down Dean Smith's side.

Eriksen's introduction sparked urgency into Tottenham's attack and, after Tom Heaton had made a fantastic stop to deny Davinson Sanchez, Ndombele slammed home a brilliant equaliser at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. 

Another terrific Heaton stop kept Eriksen at bay, but Villa's resistance was ended when Kane capitalised on a mistake from Jack Grealish before excellently tucking in his second to add gloss to a hard-fought win.

It's completely against the run of play. A long ball over the top Mings picks out McGinn between two defenders and he brings it down before wrong-footing Sanchez and slotting his shot low, past Lloris and into the bottom corner.

It's a good cross into the box from Ndombele and Kane rises highest to get on the end of it in the six-yard box. He can't keep his effort down though and it sails over the crossbar.

NDOMBELE EQUALISES FOR SPURS! The corner that followed Heaton's save proved more costly for Villa after Lucas picked out Ndombele outside the box. He struck his shot well and beat Heaton to find the bottom corner.

Eriksen steps up to take the free-kick and curls his effort over the wall and towards the near post. Heaton is quick to move across his line and dives to get a hand to the shot and put it out for a corner.

Grealish was dispossessed by Lamela on the edge of the box and his effort rebounded off Mings and Engels before landing at Kane's feet. He turned quickly before firing his shot past Heaton and into the back of the net.

Villa look tired after letting in the second and they just sit back when Sissoko slips the ball through to Kane. He has time to take a touch to set himself before slotting his shot into the bottom corner.
