Tottenham are in talks with Barcelona over a deal for Brazilian winger Malcom.
The 21-year-old has struggled to make an impact since his £36million move to the Camp Nou in the summer, and the club are prepared to cut their losses.
SPORT report that negotiations are underway with Tottenham over a January deal, with the forward likely to join on loan with a compulsory purchase option at the end of the season.
Spurs, despite failing to bring in any reinforcements in the summer, sit third in the Premier League table and are alive and kicking in the Champions League and both domestic cups.
Mauricio Pochettino, however, may have no choice but to dip into the winter market, with talisman Harry Kane ruled out until early March with ankle ligament damage.
Kane joins the likes of Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier on the injury list, while Son Heung-Min could be away until February as he aims for Asia Cup glory with South Korea.
Despite injuries and absences, Pochettino said his plans for the January window have not changed, and insisted the club are always open to bringing in new faces if the right opportunity arises.
"We were always open to improve with Harry in condition or not, but in the same time we know it is going to be tough and difficult to add the player that we want,” the Spurs boss said.
"It didn't change our mind, I think it's a very good opportunity for players to play more, to step up. I'm sure it's going to be a good opportunity for young players through the academy to show their quality.
“We know what it means to have Harry Kane fit and available to play and help the team to win, but we have a squad and [his absence] can't be an excuse.”

Barcelona; 1. Malcom out. 2. Munir out. 3. Coutinho benched. 4. Cillessen benched. Just a waste of money and talents

why are all these young footballers crazy about going to Barcelona instead of going to where you will have more playing time and become immortalized.

Still don't understand why we got him in the first place, He didn't even get that much of a chance. He has the lowest minutes in the squad, I believe. Before his last injury he scored a goal in CDR and before that he scored against Inter in the CL. After his injury, He started one game only in the CDR and missed a one on one and another chance I think but him and Dembele were trying really hard that game. I don't understand the disbelief in him, He shows much passion for the Club, He was crying after he scored against Inter and after he was subbed due to injury. It's not like he is a total failure, He is very far away from that and he's been here for 6 months only.
