Tony Cascarino has claimed Tottenham should 'be brave' and appoint Vincent Kompany if they sack Antonio Conte.
Conte launched into an astonishing 10-minute rant after his side threw away a two-goal lead at bottom-of-the-league Southampton on Saturday to draw 3-3.
The Italian, 53, accused his players of being 'selfish', not being able to play under pressure and lacking fighting spirit, saying he could no longer 'hide' his real feelings.
As a result, Tottenham appear set to sack the head coach this week, according to reports.
And former Ireland and Chelsea striker Cascarino, 60, believes Spurs should try to bring Kompany to north London.
'In the past Tottenham have just made an obvious choice, picking managers with the best CVs, but it's time for them to be brave, especially as Harry Kane may well depart, which would create a completely new dynamic at the club,' Cascarino told The Times.
'I think Vincent Kompany would be an excellent appointment after his miraculous feats at Burnley this season.
'He's had little money but transformed them, adopting a new playing style.'
His comments came despite Manchester City thrashing the runaway Championship leaders 6-0 on Saturday to power into the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The Belgian, who won 10 major trophies as a player with City, said: 'We got seriously beat, but I hope we will react to this, not just brush it aside, and use it as motivation to get better.
'I want to play these games again, again and again, until it works, until we succeed - but we've got to get better first.'
Meanwhile, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson said 'the end is in sight' for Conte.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily: 'He's come out swinging. This is the first time he has come out and been open and completely honest.
'We're used to him being very passionate but I got a feeling that the end is in sight from him. He doesn't care who he brings down in his press conference.
'He didn't come out picking his punches, he came out head down, eyes closed, swinging.
'He went for the players, he went for the ownership, he went for the club, he went for everybody. He didn't leave anybody unscarred after that press conference.
'That adds more fuel to the fire. Where are Tottenham with the managerial situation at the moment? His contract is up at the end of the season, we all know that.
'You just think now with an international break coming up, is this the time where the change will be made?
'Do they make the change now and really try and push for the top four with a new manager bounce, or does he stay until the end of the season, but be disruptive and destructive like that was?'

Spurs doesn't wants another Potter at the club. Vincent company will find spurs too big for him to handle. Too early for him let him prove himself..

hi.my opinion is to keep conte for another season or 2. he is a good fitness coach if not the best.he needs younger players in the defense and a goal keeper..money to buy in the transfer window would be nice. then if no results next season, which I highly doubt it.thrn u sack him.1 more thing. that will allow Tottenham to play more attacking football.

No Tony... Leave him to run Burnley. Look at Frank Lampard... He is not d right candidate at Chelsea... Top 6 teams must be held by seasoned coaches n let d young Managers manage the smaller clubs 1st to get more exposure
