Tottenham takeover news as Daniel Levy addresses talk of a move at the Cambridge Union amid rumours that MSP Sports Capital and Jahm Najafi are preparing a deal for the club
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy recently moved to outline his stance on a takeover of the club.
However, there is considerable pressure on the chairman after the dismissals of Cristian Stellini and Antonio Conte within the last month. Here, we round-up the latest on a potential change of ownership at Tottenham...
The Financial Times claimed back in February that Najafi was 'set to launch' a $3.75billion (£3billion) bid for Spurs. With Najafi chairing MSP Sports Capital, he would lead an approach for the club but a consortium made up of other investors would also provide funding.
It was also reported that the other investors would be from the Middle East with MSP contributing 70% of the funds for the takeover. Spurs are currently owned by ENIC Group, which holds 85% of the club's stock, with Levy and Joe Lewis partners.
"We have a duty to consider any proposal anyone wants to make. "All I would say is we are not in negotiations with anybody, nor have we been in recent months."
As well as MSP Sports Capital, Qatar Sports Investments have also been linked with a move for Spurs. It was reported that Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain owner QSI, met with Levy in January.
Tottenham are an attractive proposition with a brand new stadium and prime location in London amid heightened interest in Premier League clubs. Manchester United are the subject of a takeover while Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are looking for investment in the Anfield club.
