Barcelona have been busy this summer. With two signings already confirmed and another nearly wrapped up, the club is moving fast. But they are not slowing down yet. After signing Joan García, Roony Bardghji, and almost-finalising the Nico Williams deal, attention has now shifted to defence.

One area that needs urgent help is the flanks. Last season, the full-backs were overworked. Injuries, lack of depth, and inconsistency made things worse.

Hansi Flick, the man in charge, wants to fix that fast. He knows what kind of player he needs. Someone who can defend, attack, and most importantly adapt. There are a few names on the list. Vanderson is there and so is Pubill. But none of them are seen as first-choice material, not yet, at least.

There is one name, though, that ticks all the boxes. He has already played in La Liga for the Blaugrana. The player knows the dressing room. And he has the skill set to deliver right away. He also has a great record in England. For years, he was one of Manchester City’s top performers. 

He was a key part of Pep Guardiola’s team when they dominated the Premier League. Now, things are different. He is with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. But as per Spanish sources, a return to Europe is looking more and more likely for Joao Cancelo.

Barcelona want him back. And he wants the move too. Negotiations are moving slowly but surely. No official bid yet for Joao Cancelo, but Barcelona are considering an offer close to €15 million.

The Joao Cancelo’s desire to return is helping. His past loan spell at Camp Nou went well, and he would be happy to wear the Blaugrana shirt again. If all goes to plan, Cancelo could be the next puzzle piece in Flick’s new Barcelona team.
