Trapp, who currently plays for Paris FC, said he hopes to convince new Germany coach Klopp to call him back to the national team with his performances.

The 36-year-old Trapp has made 9 appearances for Germany in his career, with his last national team appearance being in November 2023.

Trapp said that he is still following the national team, while emphasizing that his most important task now is to perform well for his club and hopes to continue last season's form.

Trapp was selected for Germany's squads for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, but did not get to play. Now 36 years old, he says he is "surprisingly good physically and mentally, better than a few years ago." In Paris, the goalkeeper originally joined as a second-choice goalkeeper, but quickly established himself as a starter last season.

Trapp is very confident in the new Germany coach, Klopp. Trapp played for Frankfurt from 2012 to 2015 and from 2018 to 2025, and won the Europa League with the team four years ago. He said: "We all know what kind of coach he is." Trapp also said that Klopp "can motivate those around him," adding: "He can generate a lot of energy, and he is successful wherever he goes."
