Chelsea are currently sweating over the respective futures of defenders Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
Both players, who are first team players at the club, have contracts which expire in the summer of 2022.
Not only are Chelsea facing the possibility of losing the pair, but also losing them without receiving transfer fees.
Christensen and Rudiger have 18 Premier League starts between them in the 2021/22 campaign so far.
When asked on Friday how negotiations over extensions were progressing, Tuchel said:
"Things are very mature and respectful and clear. Of course there are some delays with Toni and Andreas at the moment.
"For Andreas, from my point of view, everybody wants the same thing. The coach wants the same thing, the club wants the same thing and the player wants the same thing.
"Hopefully and obviously I expect some good news in the next days but every case is different.
"You can end up in situations like this but the situations are handled from all sides very carefully, very professionally, very calm and mature.
"During the process we can produce performances that we need to fulfill our goals and that's the most important."
Focus on Rudiger
Rudiger is apparently wanted by a number of elite sides around Europe including Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Tuchel says it is clear that the club want to keep the Germany international around, and that the player knows how valued he is at Stamford Bridge.
"We know that, of course," he responded when asked if it would be better if Rudiger's future was decided sooner rather than later.
"It is pretty clear what we want but it is not like this in football when the club wants something and things happen.
"You have to accept that sometimes it can arrive and you end up in sitautions where things are in a delay and take time but I am very sure that Toni feels also how respected and what an important role he plays in this club."

I sometimes wonder why we Chelsea fans are damn quick to react to things, why will you want rudiger to leave, someone who we knw very plays to the end with everything he’s got, let make known that most clean sheet we get in a match, Rudiger has been an integral part of it, I really need him to stay, so can continue to beast up the defense.

Players work for money and clubs spend money on players based on their productivity or performance. The best time for players to make lucrative contract is when they are at peak of their performance and attracting big rival clubs. Rudiger, like any other players is not a humanitarian worker and his age is not getting any younger. This is his best time to strike a better deal. lf Chelsea cannot afford his demand, it is fair and his right to go for greener pastures else where. How often do we see players who have made history at their clubs being shown exit door as soon as their legs become tight and their contribution towards club performance diminishes?
What a beautiful and educative article I've read today.

Back in the days most of the players served theirs teams out of their unconditional love for the club but today most of them love money over the club. That’s the reason why today football is less passionate.

you are a true fan bro. some Chelsea fans are just silly to say nonsense. If Rudiger is wrong to ask for 400k so are Chelsea board to have offered him 140k

From his response, it's certain Christie is staying and Rudiger is most likely to leave. Rudiger looks like he wants another challenge to spark up his ending career and that's fine, we will find another defender! He isn't the first to leave and we still banging hard!
