Manchester United's Tyrell Malacia thinks Memphis Depay could win the Golden Boot at the World Cup this winter.
Signed by Louis van Gaal in 2015, Depay took the iconic number seven shirt upon his arrival at Old Trafford, but he struggled to nail down a place in the team and only managed to tally seven goals in 53 appearances during his time at the club.
Jose Mourinho eventually deemed Depay surplus to requirements and the forward sealed a move to Lyon in Ligue 1 in 2017. Depay has since excelled playing for Lyon and he's established himself as one of Europe's finest attackers.
Malacia spoke to United's in-house media ahead of travelling to the World Cup and he backed Depay to be top goalscorer.
"It's a really big achievement [playing at World Cup]. I think I can't describe that for myself. It's amazing," Malacia said. "I think, of course, from the beginning when I won my first cap until now, they [the people back home] are so proud and really happy for me.
"Of course, he [Van Gaal] knows a lot and he helps us a lot. He talks with us a lot and has a lot of experience for the younger players to know. We also have some guys in the team who have already played at the World Cup.
"So I think our team has a bit of everything, you know. It's difficult because, in tournaments, you never know as the team who has the best day wins. I think Memphis [Depay] for the Golden Boot. I'm excited."

The reason we want Messi to win this world cup is because is Messi last opportunity to win it, but all those players you measure here have more times to win it in the future to come.
Yah but how many times can you win it at 19 and 18, years of age. For players that can play for us for even more years. Confidence and growth in big competitions are key for young players, take a look at rodrygo, he wasn’t nearly as good as he is now last season, but he’s performance and experience he got from his champions league performance and winning it has upped his game to another level. Last season rodrygo had 8 g+a in 33 laliga games. This season he has 8 g+a In just 12 games. So far and is looking to do even better. That Is how confidence and experience works on young players. Imagine, having that effect on our spanish players.

it's his own opinion like you have yours which many others don't agree too. It's also a possibility, with Memphis being one among the stars and with the quality of players Netherlands has. Respect someone's opinion for the others to respect yours.

Barca fans might not see it now but Spain winning the World Cup would probably mean more to us that Argentina, with or without the World Cup messi will always be the goat it doesn’t really change anything, it’s not validation for him, he’s already number one, maybe it would be validation for Cristiano but messi doesn’t need it. Also if messi wins the World Cup, You don’t have to be a genius to know he’s probably retiring or moving to mls definitely not coming to Barca. Spain winning will not only show the ability of our youngsters on the highest level, it would also put eternal respect on their names and it would be the best confidence booster and growth for players, that would probably be with us for the next 10 years, pedri, gavi, fati, balde, even Eric. Ofcourse I’d want messi to have his last dance and if he wins it I’d still love that but Spain winning would be absolutely insane for Barca fans.
