Udinese 1-0 Milan: Giampaolo's side play passively to suffer a rough start

  /  R47

Rodrigo Becao had the perfect Serie A debut, scoring the winner as Udinese beat Marco Giampaolo’s toothless Milan 1-0.

Match Report

Milan will instead look towards their home game against Brescia next week to get off the mark, while Udinese will take the confidence from this into their fixture against Parma.

So Udinese secure their first victory over Milan in their last five attempts. A draw might have been a fairer result, but the home side restricted Milan to few chances. Then, when their big opening fell to Becao, he made no mistake and drilled a header beyond Donnarumma. Milan worked hard to restore parity, but lacked the creativity to break down a determined back five.

Match Events

15' Borini's clearance almost kicked his own goal

Close! Larsen whips in a devilish cross from the right that beats everyone, before flicking off an unaware Borini at the back post, and floating just over the bar.

38' Romagnoli's heel shot wide out

Big chance for Milan! Romagnoli finds himself in plenty of space from a well-worked corner, but he can only fumble his shot wide from six yards. That could have been his second consecutive goal against Udinese!

72' GOAL! Udinese 1-0 Milan (Becao)

Becao rises highest at the near post from an out-swinging corner, and powers a header straight into the ground, that bounces in at the near post.
