PGMOL have confirmed that VAR ruled out Dominic Calvert-Lewin's goal against Manchester United as Gylfi Sigurdsson was offside and directly impacted David de Gea 's ability to make a save.
The United shot stopper made a fantastic save to keep the scores level but Everton had the rebound in the back of the net.
Calvert-Lewin fired a low shot past a crowd of United defenders and Sigurdsson - who was still on the ground from the earlier phase of play - managed to lift his feet out the way of the deflected effort.
The goal was awarded by on-field referee Chris Kavanagh but it was chalked out shortly after following a VAR review which frustrated the home crowd and Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti.
PGMOL have confirmed that Sigurdsson's involvement resulted in the decision.
Their statement reads: "In the 91st minute of Everton v Manchester United, Dominic Calvert-Lewin's goal was disallowed following a VAR Review for an offside against Gylfi Sigurdsson.
"The on-field decision was to award the goal, but the VAR advised the referee that Sigurdsson was in an offside position directly in the line of vision of David de Gea and made an obvious action that impacted de Gea's ability to make a save."

this is a shame to English football! the ball deflected a United player whilst De gea had already moved to the opposite direction! so why are they assuming the action impacted de Gea from saving the ball.

I am a united fan, but the goal should have standed because although gylfi was in an offside position, he did not touch the ball. I am a united fan but i also have to be reasonable

The ball was an own goal by Maguire. We all watch football everyday and this is bad example from English league. Ok, let's assume the guy was offside but immidiately the ball touches Maguire the offside rule can never stand because utd player had the last touch. This was how south Africa got their equalizer against Nigeria in nations cup when checked by VAR. The guy who scored the goal was in offside position but because a Nigerian player had the last touch it was given as a goal. It's only in England that we have so many double standard in football. This particular incident will happen again and it will be awarded as a goal. Just mark my words. Carlo Anceloci was fighting for his right and was given a red card. Another example of social injustice. What a shame on English league.

Wow VAR is being used in EPL games awfully. No wonder FIFA and UEFA doesn’t trust EPL referees to officiate at top level. Since VAR was introduced to the ELP , i have seen it used to favor some teams
