Valverde gives his opinion on De Jong, Griezmann and Neto

Frenkie De Jong, Antoine Griezmann and Neto are Barcelona's new signings so far this summer and Ernesto Valverde has given his take on each of them.

The former Athletic Club tactician hailed the Dutchman's quality and labelled him as a long-term project.

"Last season [De Jong] played at a great level, like Ajax did," he told Barcelona's own media channels.

"He is a footballer who will give freshness to the midfield and he is a project for the future, because he is a quality footballer who has many years of football ahead and who has our style of play."

Valverde also offered his opinion on Griezmann, underlining that the club have high expectations on the former Atletico Madrid forward.

"He is a footballer with experience in LaLiga Santander and in that aspect he is more settled than De Jong," he said.

"He is fast, plays well into space and he is a good finisher.

"We trust him a lot, we know what this type of player is worth and we expect immediate performance."

Finally, the Barcelona coach expressed his confidence that Neto will be a decent cover to first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

"He will bring safety between the goalposts," he noted.

"He is an experienced goalkeeper and the ideal player to work with Ter Stegen."
