In the sixth round of the Premier League, Liverpool lost 0-3 to Manchester City at home. After the match, Liverpool captain Van Dijk spoke to Viaplay.
Reporter: Today's match was very special, and the atmosphere at Anfield was also very special. How did you feel today?
Van Dijk: I think it was a game worth being part of. Of course, the final result is not what you want to experience, because losing 0-3 at home is never good. For most of the game, the scoreline didn't reflect what was happening on the pitch. That's certainly difficult to take, but it is what it is, and we have to accept it and quickly move forward, because the upcoming fixtures come thick and fast.
Reporter: How do you think the team reacted after the red card?
Van Dijk: It was very difficult because we conceded a goal very quickly after the red card. After that, you obviously try to get back into the rhythm of the game and push for an equalizer. But you're up against a Manchester City team that is very good at keeping possession, so in that situation, you might need to take more risks. However, I think conceding a goal so quickly after the red card put us in a very difficult position.
Reporter: Today we heard the voices of the Anfield fans. Considering Manchester City's current situation in the Premier League, what does that mean for you as players, and for you personally?
Van Dijk: I just play football. When the final verdict is announced, I'll give my opinion.
