Goals from Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez earned AC Milan a 2-0 win at Venezia in Serie A on Sunday, deepening the hosts' relegation fears and keeping the Rossoneri's European hopes alive.
Match Report
Milan, fresh from progressing to the Coppa Italia final with Wednesday's 3-0 semi-final second-leg win over Inter, raced into a fifth-minute lead as Pulisic capitalised on some sloppy play at the back from Venezia.
Venezia dominated the rest of the first half, creating plenty of chances but failing to find an equaliser.
And they were finished off in second-half stoppage time as Gimenez met Tijjani Reijnders's free-kick with a composed finish.
Milan sit ninth in the standings on 54 points, three points adrift of the top seven, though the teams around them all play later on Sunday.
Venezia, meanwhile, are second from bottom on 25 points, one point off 17th-placed Lecce, who are just outside the relegation zone before facing Atalanta.
Data debrief: Pulisic's best campaign
Pulisic's goal was his 16th in all competitions this season – his best tally in a single campaign in Europe's big five leagues.
He has netted 10 times in Serie A in 2024-25, joining Reijnders on double figures.
The last time Milan had two midfielders net 10 times in a single top-flight season was in 1972-73 – Alberto Bigon (10) and Gianni Rivera (17) doing so on that occasion.
Pulisic is one of just three Serie A players to have been directly involved in at least 50 goals (31 goals and 19 assists) in the last two seasons in all competitions, alongside Ademola Lookman (50) and Lautaro Martinez (54).
