Video emerges of Aubameyang criticising Arteta after Arsenal transfer exit

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been caught criticising former manager Mikel Arteta after his move away from Arsenal in January.

This time last season the 33-year-old was captain at the Emirates Stadium but quickly lost the faith of his manager after a poor run of form coincided with Aubameyang returning late to the club for training and breaking disciplinary procedures.

The striker was then allowed to leave the club for free after being forced to train alone by his manager and move to Barcelona in January. He would only spend a handful of months in Spain though, because Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel persuaded him to come back to London in order to finish his business in England.

It has been a crazy year for the Gabon international who was threatened in his own home weeks before the transfer and then saw Tuchel sacked just one day after playing his first game. He has since scored in back-to-back games for new manager Graham Potter, but a video of the forward criticising Arteta has been released.

During his time at Camp Nou Aubameyang was part of an A Jewellers Youtube video where he styled some necklaces for the channel with nearly 20,000 subscribers. As a fan of fashion and jewellery, Aubameyang was an obvious attraction.

During the video, which was filmed with Aubameyang in Paris, he is asked about his then recent move to Barcelona, and despite remaining coy on camera, he did admit that he was enjoying life away from Arsenal much more. When asked if he was happier than before, Aubameyang replied: "I'm more than happy. Spain changed my life."

He then spoke about how the chance to join the Catalan club came about, adding, "The rest of the team at Barcelona are very cool, there is a lot of young players as well but they listen.

"I remember, they first called my father [his manager], they called him and we knew that the manager of Barcelona [Xavi] called me and said 'I didn't know there was an opportunity because you had those problems with Arsenal, if you come you will help us a lot'."

He went on to be a success during his brief time in Spain, scoring 11 times in 17 games, a period of scoring that will have helped convince Chelsea he still had what it taked to help them. That came after just for goals in the opening 14 for Arsenal.

As Arteta tried to create a new atmosphere at the club with a group of younger players, Aubameyang was made an example of due to his conduct, but the striker went on to reveal that he didn't think Arteta was a good man-manager, saying: "To manage big characters and big players, he can't deal with it." He was then asked if Arteta had good people skills to which he responded: "Some young players don't say anything, they just listen."

Having played well in Spain, part of this was down to proving a point after becoming a controversial figure in England, and Aubameyang stated his reason for playing well as "I wanted to show them."

He's now on board with Potter and the Blues will be hoping that he can continue to 'show them' as he continues to play across London, in blue.
