The future of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres is set to be one of the biggest stories of the summer transfer window, with Manchester United among the clubs linked with signing him

The seven clubs which Viktor Gyokeres would be open to joining have emerged - and Manchester United aren't on his list. United are said to be targeting a new striker in the summer transfer window and Ruben Amorim's connections to Gyokeres, 26, have led to speculation that he's their top target.

Amorim brought the Swedish striker to Sporting Lisbon for just €20million (£16.7m) in 2023 and he went to score 66 goals in 68 games before the Portuguese boss moved to United. Gyokeres has continued his good form since Amorim's departure and has become one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe.

United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been linked with signing him alongside Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. But now the former Coventry City star's preference has emerged.

Portuguese outlet A Bola claim that a move to United or Chelsea isn't on Gyokeres' mind. Instead, the 26-year-old would be open to joining Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG or Bayern Munich.

Gyokeres is currently under contract with Sporting until 2028. The Portuguese giants resisted offers last summer, with his release clause set at €100m (£84m).

Sporting president Frederico Varandas admitted in November that they'd be powerless to stop Gyokeres leaving if a top club triggered that clause. "I can't promise anything," Varandas said. "If a club arrives and pays the release clause, if he wants to go, he will go."

As for the man himself, Gyokeres refused to rule out a summer exit when speaking in December. "We will see," the Sweden international told Marca.

"There are many rumours circulating, but we are in the middle of the season and there are still many months left. We will see when the time comes what will happen."

Gyokeres was then asked where he sees himself playing in four years' time. "Playing for one of the best teams in Europe," he replied. "That is the objective."

United currently aren't one of those teams and given the noise coming out of Portugal, they'll need to shift their focus to other targets. It's been reported this week that the Red Devils have discussed signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £40million.

Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford. RB Liepzig's Benjamin Sesko and Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, are two alternatives, both of whom have been linked with other Premier League clubs.
