Vinicius Jr opens up on his relationship with Kylian Mbappé

After scoring a decisive brace against Real Sociedad, Vinicius Jr delivered a strong statement on the pitch and off it. 

In the absence of Kylian Mbappé from the starting lineup, the Brazilian winger led Real Madrid’s attack with authority, winning a penalty and converting twice in a convincing 4–1 victory. His performance confirmed his status as a key attacking leader just days before the Champions League playoff clash against Benfica.

Ahead of that European fixture, coach Álvaro Arbeloa praised Vinícius, calling him one of the best players in the world and confirming that Mbappé would be fit to start against Benfica after being rested as a precaution. The reunion of the two stars has fueled constant debate in Spain, with recurring rumors of tension between them since Mbappé’s arrival in Madrid.

Speaking openly to Ibai Llanos, Vinícius Jr dismissed those claims and revealed a close relationship with the French forward. He admitted he had encouraged Mbappé to join Real Madrid for years, explaining that he wants to play alongside the best to increase the team’s chances of winning.

Vinícius also underlined his strong bonds with Mbappé, Camavinga and Mendy, insisting that unity inside the dressing room is real and that media narratives exaggerate conflicts ahead of major matches.
