Virgil van Dijk's defensive acumen saw him recognised as the second best footballer in the world at the start of the week.
But on Wednesday night he showed that engaging in the dark arts of defending are not beneath him.
A clip has emerged on social media of the Liverpool centre-back shouting at Everton's Moise Kean as he prepared to shoot when through on goal late in the game.
And it seemed to work a treat as the Italian teenager screwed his effort badly wide of the post from 18 yards out.
It would have brought Everton back into the game at 4-3 in the dying minutes, but it was not to be for the Toffees.
