WWE 'working on deal' to have Cristiano Ronaldo at this year's Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia

WWE are said to be 'working on a deal' to have Cristiano Ronaldo at their Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia on November 4 - according to reports.

This year's Crown Jewel will be the fifth edition and the tenth event overall following WWE's lucrative contract with Saudi Arabia.

However, WWE are looking to make this year's event even more special by getting the Al-Nassr forward involved.

Ronaldo would not be the first professional footballer to take part in WWE as several famous faces have braved the canvas before him.

Former Norwich striker Grant Holt, German goalkeeper Tim Wiese and ex-Wycombe Wanderers forward Adebayo Akinfenwa have all featured.

Wayne Rooney also dipped a toe in the wrestling world by slapping Wade Barrett at the 2015 WWE Raw event in Manchester.

According to AS, WWE are working hard behind the scenes to secure Ronaldo as a 'superstar guest' at Saudi Arabia's Crown Jewel event in November.

The report says Ronaldo would receive a 'large appearance fee' if he agreed to feature at the showpiece event.

WWE also believe Ronaldo's attendance at the Crown Jewel would increase their revenue for the show as a whole.

Wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp added further speculation by Tweeting the following:  'I've asked WWE about the rumors of Cristiano Ronaldo-WWE appearances, and they didn't have an answer.'

Meanwhile, NXT star Apollo Crews believes Ronaldo could forge a career in wrestling after he hangs up his boots.

Speaking to the Metro, Crews said: 'Honestly, with that mentality to be a top athlete in the world on that level, I think just on the mentality alone he would've done okay.

'When you start the physical part, that's a different story, though, for most people. But again, [he's] a world-class athlete so I wouldn't put it past him.'
