Watzke: Nagelsmann has great potential, will have a brilliant career

DFL President and German Football Association Vice President Watzke said: "I still think Nagelsmann is an excellent coach with great potential. I believe he will have a brilliant career in the future."

Watzke himself had tried many times in the past to bring the young Nagelsmann to Dortmund. However, after Hoffenheim, Nagelsmann first chose RB Leipzig, and then joined Bayern Munich.

Hansi Flick proved that even a temporarily unsuccessful national team coach can still take over a giant club and lead them to championships. On September 10, 2023, Flick became the first national team coach in the history of the German Football Association to be sacked. Just 260 days later, he took over Barcelona and led the team to win the La Liga title twice.

In the Bundesliga, there are no vacancies at top clubs for the time being. Among foreign giants, Real Madrid (Mourinho), Chelsea (Alonso), Liverpool (Iraola) and Manchester City (Maresca) have also just completed coaching changes.

This means that Nagelsmann now needs to wait, keep an eye on the market, and quietly await new opportunities. The first possible vacancies might be other national team coaching positions that also failed to achieve their goals. By autumn, the coaching positions at top clubs will also become tight again, and Nagelsmann's name will soon be discussed.
