Wayne Rooney's Plymouth lost once again and are now without a win in 10 games as pressure continues to increase on the former Manchester United star.
In what was a relegation six-pointer, Argyle could have gone level on points with opponents Oxford had they won the game, but went down 2-0 as the team and Rooney were once again booed off.
The result leaves Plymouth rock bottom of the league and staring relegation to League One in the face - four points off safety and having won just four of 23 league games so far.
Pressure continues to be piled on the 39-year-old, who is thought to be earning around £500,000 a week with Argyle in what is the fourth different club he has been manager of since retiring.
The result came on the back of a 2-1 defeat by Swansea on Boxing Day, with Plymouth shipping two, three, four, and three in their four games before that.
The former England captain has tried a number of methods both on-field and off it in terms of the way he addressed his team in the media, but there have been no signs of any imminent turnaround at the club.
And while Rooney has been supported by his family throughout his managerial career so far, with wife Coleen opening up on his struggles during her stint on ITV's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, they were not present at oxford.
Coleen, 38, was instead in the crowd with three of her four children as Everton took on Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park at the same time.
Kai, 15, Kit, eight, Cass, six, sat with Coleen in the stands as all the sporting action unfolded during the post-Christmas match.
She wrapped up warm in a padded black jacket and swept her brunette hair back into a sleek up do.
Rumours continue to swirl that Wayne's job is hanging in the balance, he has given no thought to a potential sacking by Plymouth and insists he is focusing on improving the squad in January.
He has, meanwhile, insisted he can lift his side off the foot of the league table.
Speaking after a 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough earlier this month, he said: 'We're bottom of the league but if we keep performing like we have been doing over the last three games I'm certain we will win games soon,' Rooney said.
'I've no problem with that because it's a strange league but it's not where we want to be.'

Rooney should leave football coaching and start selling onions. The worst is that he will be sacked and he will join punditry and start criticising the real coaches whereas he was a criminal coach imposter

I’ve never seen a balloon man become a successful coach … First you have to be able to coach yourself to eating right sleeping right and drinking right …. Before you can coach a bunch of much fitter players to play right to win games. People who dislike CR7 accomplishments can never STAY FIT lol

rooney must go coach manu they both have something in common
If I were you as a Barcelona fan, I will hide myself inside the Atlantic ocean. Your team is bankrupted to the level that they can't even register existing players talk more of signing new ones. Even the free agents you accumulated in your team they can't pay them. Barcelona have suddenly become a symbol of global attraction infamously

the funny part is that Rooney just like other English managers...has been the most protected coaches in the media....Rooney has been losing games but the English media won't go after him..
