Arsène Wenger is close to replacing Gennaro Gattuso at AC Milan, according to France Football.
Wenger has been out of work since the end of last season, when he left Arsenal after 22 years in charge.
The Frenchman has, though, insisted he will not retire and is eyeing a return to management.
In a recent interview he revealed that he expects to return to work in early 2019, and he’s been linked with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Fenerbahce and the Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.
According to France Football though, he has in fact been in negotiations with Milan for several weeks.
Negotiations are said to be close to conclusion, with Wenger ready to replace Gennaro Gattuso as Rossoneri Coach.
Milan are currently fourth in Serie A and have won five of their last six league games after a slow start to the season.
However, Gattuso’s job remains in a precarious position after the club’s slow start to the campaign.
Milan have recently appointed Ivan Gazidis, who previously worked closely with Wenger as Arsenal’s chief executive.
According to the report, Wenger would also work closely with Leonardo, the club’s sporting director.
Milan’s next Serie A game is against Juventus on Sunday.

I respect Wenger a lot, likewise he's a great coach, But this will be one of the greatest mistakes he's going to make in his life, if he choses to manage a Italian's club, his style of coaching won't work with Italian clubs, most Italian managers are always sucessful in England, but non Italian don't succeed easily in managing Italian clubs, very few we find sucessful, Saries A football(styles of playing) is very traditional, my advice to him is, forget Series A, To A C Milan, try to appreciate Gattuso who help you to reach 4th place after so many years you haven't reach 4th place, you will have another set back, if you sacked Gattuso

So Milan are still going to struggle then lol. If you want Milan to do well you bring in an established coach in the current era like Conte or Zidane who are both winners. Last time Arsene won a prem title most AFers were in diapers.... Milan need to be serious about who they hire if they want success. Gattuso is a club legend but he's clearly fed up and isn't able to elevate the players to their best...

I don’t understand why this Gazidis guy because he worked with Wenger at Arsenal - which by the way didn’t bring so much success - means that he has to bring him to Sam Siro. Can’t you work with someone else????

Bring someone with the same passion that Gattuso has for A.C. Milan.. someone like Antonio Conte.. Wenger is good but it took him 22 years to build his legacy at Arsenal.. Milan does not have that kind of time.. Gattuso has been your hero once again from player to manager.. But his job is done.. he can't take A.c. Milan any further we need a bigger/better coach..

he is a good coach despite the unfortunate situation that befell him at later years in North London.

A club that's won 7 Champions League titles, & has a huge legacy in terms of Seria A is struggling to form a proper team, they were recently linked with Denis Suarez, but it was also mentioned that FFP rules might restrict them from the purchase, I mean, what kind of FFP rules are there in Italy? Inter Milan said they could not buy Rafinha last year because of FFP regulations, AC MILAN cannot make a purchase because of FFP, then how the hell does Juventus keep spending so much & buying quality players? Ronaldo for €100m, PSG buying Neymar for €222m then M'bappe for €180m, while Man City has spent more than a Billion Euros to buy players in the last three years, I can't understand, how are these clubs spending so much, are there know, FFP for them?
