Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to see Financial Fair Play [FFP] rules relaxed.
Wenger is head of football development at FIFA after leaving Arsenal in 2018 and believes FFP is hampering 'emerging clubs' from breaking into the elite.
He also claims 'bigger historical clubs' are pushing for the financial rules to be applied in a bid to restrict competition.
Speaking to L'Equipe, the 70-year-old said: “I am in favour of measures that reinforce checks around club management, over measures that restrict and limit.
"We should value quality management and encourage it. And I am in favour of opening things up to more investment, which FFP does not allow for.
"The clubs that dominate Europe today are those that were built and made investments during an era where FFP did not exist. FFP prevents emerging clubs who want to invest from doing so. That is not normal.
“These rules have fixed a hierarchy, the big historical clubs are bigger and bigger and, obviously, they are all fighting for FFP rules to be scrupulously applied to the others so that competitors can't come through.
"Controlling club management rigorously yes, verifying where funds are coming from, yes, but we need to encourage people to invest in football.
"FFP must become more flexible and facilitate investment.”

Arsene Wenger was the same person who started advocating against emerging clubs like PSG and Manchester City
He is talking about investment and not showing fake sponsorships. He is just talking about increasing the investment limits from the owners. There is a difference between investing money and investing unlimited money by fake so sponsorships deals.

ffp should be quashed out it prevents emerging club from becoming big if u can't invest in ur club it's never our fault,it's just that the club is poor or the don't want to invest it is the club decision so u can't say since others are not investing u then bring in ffp in order to stop small emerging club from becoming big.in this time of covid-19 pandemic most especially ffp should be dropped and because we are in this time of covid-19 pandemic Mancity ban should be lifted in order to allow the club to participate in UCL so the club wont go bankrupt.

I'm happy Arsene Wenger can see the bigger picture now... I always say FFP has both positive and Negative influence.... One of the negative impacts is to prevent emerging clubs to become big clubs and yes clubs like Manchester united, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Juventus etc invested while FFP wasn't in place so the FFP rules should be flexible enough.
I personally don't think UEFA would make it flexible any time soon...the European elite like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Juventus want to get bigger and bigger and don't want competition from the emerging clubs...if that happens...the big clubs will probably form form their own European Super league...

Keep FFP but also add some kind of limit to how much money clubs can borrow. The way it works now it only serves “old clubs”. If UEFA wants to actually do something about footballs financial health then they also need to limit how much clubs can lend from banks.
