What Henrikh Mkhitaryan just did speaks volumes as Inter Milan agree deal

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has sealed a one-year extension to his Inter Milan contract.

The Armenian featured heavily during the 2025/26 campaign, producing seven goal involvements in 39 appearances across all competitions.

That return is impressive, considering he turned 37 in January, and his influence during their latest Serie A title win earned him a new one-year deal.

Impressively, when the veteran could have gone elsewhere on huge wages, he agreed to a salary reduction with the Italian giants.

"Mkhitaryan negotiates personally, there’s no agent involved. He’s on a different level," Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio said.

Mkhitaryan moved to the San Siro on a free transfer from Roma in the summer of 2022, and has since produced 33 goal involvements in 187 matches for the club.

The former Manchester United midfielder has also now played more games for Inter across his career than any other club, and once the 2026/27 campaign gets underway, he will look to reach the 200-mark for appearances.
