Jurgen Klopp has revealed the message he gave to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola shortly after guiding Liverpool to a sixth European Cup.
It was a first trophy for the German as Reds boss and came just weeks after Liverpool were pipped to the Premier League title by City despite finishing with a club record 97 points.
And as he addressed the media after ending the Reds' seven-year wait for silverware, Klopp said: “A second ago I spoke to Pep Guardiola on the phone. Our head physio (Lee Nobes) worked for Manchester City at the start of the year but he wanted to win the Champions League... no, it's a joke!!
“We promised each other that we will kick each other's butts again next season. We will go for everything and see what we get.
“Getting 97 points in the Premier League and winning the Champions League is an unbelievable long way to go and we did it. That's incredible.
“Now we've won something, we will carry on. We will win things. That is big. I am really happy.”

As a die hard united fan it would be painful to see Liverpool win but trully speaking I always had lot of respect for you Liverpool guys because the you stood by your club even in most difficult period when you won nothing. But today wait is over and you guys absolutely deserves it. They way your team is playing, your supports & of course your manager makes it even more beautiful. Congratulation.

Is it that difficult for fans to say "well done Liverpool" or "congrats city"? Liverpool just lifted the UCL trophy after making the finals in consecutive seasons, not to mention pushing City all the way racking 97pts (3rd highest in history) to be runners-up in the EPL. City on the other hand scoop all domestic trophies, a 1st for any prem team. Let's just admire the achievements of both clubs instead of being vile a...holes. The Prem is in a beautiful moment, only true football fans can appreciate this.

It was just a matter of time before Him winning it. As I have always said, Klopp is a good manager and has lived to his promise. He said at the beginning of that season that “he has to working on reducing the 25 points gap he lost to man city”. He has reduced it to a point, and almost winning it thus wonderful it see it done. Bringing the team back again to the finals - ‘back to back’ And then winning the champions league 😮 😁😁. Excellent work and congratulations Klopp, the technical team and the players as well as the fans who have stood by the team. You really deserved to win it.
