Manchester City could lose MULTIPLE Premier League titles if a points deduction is sanctioned on the club as punishment for breaking alleged financial rules.

The defending Premier League champions on Monday were accused of over 100 violations from 2008 when the Abu Dhabi United Group took over up to 2018.

An independent commission will now handle the review and could hand down a punishment on City, including a potential points deduction.

City won all six of their Premier League titles since their 2008 takeover, with current manager Pep Guardiola leading the club to four of those trophies.

According to a study from AceOdds, the six-time Premier League champions could be stripped of multiple titles if they are hit with even the smallest points deduction.

If City were deduced even two points for each season, Liverpool would climb above them in the Premier League table for the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons.

A two-point deduction would also City fall below Manchester United in the 2011-12 season, which the club famously won on the last day of the campaign against QPR.

Liverpool would retroactively finish ahead of City in the 2013-14 season if the points deduction was more than two, according to AceOdds.

A significant points deduction would see City lose more Premier League titles, with United finishing above them in the 2020-21 season if a 13-point sanction occurs.

Finally, it would take a mammoth 20-point penalty for City to drop their Premier League title win in the 2017-18 season to crosstown rivals United.

Following the news of the alleged Premier League financial rules being broken, City said in a statement: “Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with.

“The club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.

“As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all.”
