Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane rested goalkeeper Keylor Navas as he handed son Luca his first start in Saturday's 2-2 LaLiga draw at Villarreal.
The 20-year-old keeper made a costly misjudgement as the Champions League holders squandered a two-goal lead in their final league fixture of the season.
Luca Zidane was rounded by substitute Samu Castillejo with five minutes remaining as Villarreal salvaged a point.
"When I play I'm Luca, not Zidane," the youngster said afterwards. It tastes bittersweet, I'm proud to have made my debut with the best team in the world but the feeling of the draw is a bit bittersweet," he added. "I'll have to watch the conceded goals again, I tried my best."
It was a proud moment for Zinedine Zidane, who won titles during his illustrious career as a player with France, Juventus and Madrid.
"Lucas [Zidane] is just another player. I treat him as I do any of the other player and that's it," Zinedine told reporters. He's the only player of the squad who hadn't played this season. So that's why he played today. His debut is an important match for him and of course for his coach, his father. We will see each other later."

Zidane wants to go into the final without Kiko picking up an injury. This is precaution just in case Navas gets injured.

I mean goalkeeper is probably the best position to be mediocre at, you dont need much talent to be a 3rd choice keeper.

I find it noteworthy that Klinsmann and Zizou have sons who are goalkeepers

Luca has made his way through the youth system and is part of the squad. Him starting in a meaningless game is not really nepotism tbh.

how could he deserve it if he hasn't proven himself? But since ita the last game of the season why not give players who never had their chance the opportunity to wear the jersey and show what they got?

its nepotism but giving some minutes to the 3rd keeper doesnt look too bad tbh.

Regardless of the nepotism, seems a bit of a slap in the face for their second choice keeper, who can't be getting many games as it is!

Are people seriously upset that Casilla isn't being played? He's been horrible for us this year. He has costed us countless points. This game serves no purpose. It means nothing to let Luca play.

Keep in mind that he's YOUNG - esp for a keeper (20). Definitely had a couple of impressive saves, but he doesn't seem to make himself very big when he comes at you to close down space.

This guy played a great game why would someone blame him for the last goal. His defense tried to play offside trap but failed him. Marcelo was the one that kept the attacker on. Luca should not hold blame he did the best he could. The last goal was at the fault of the defense.

Good debut in my opinion. He's still very young and can seriously improve in the future. I hope He grows to be a significant figure for Madrid and the France National team
