Anthony Martial is officially a new member of Liga MX powerhouse Rayados de Monterrey. The French striker is expected to arrive in Mexico in the coming days to join a star-studded squad that already features the likes of Sergio Ramos, Sergio Canales, Óliver Torres, and Lucas Ocampos.
Martial signed just before the close of the Liga MX registration window, becoming Monterrey’s latest attacking reinforcement following the departure of Nelson Deossa. The club had been actively seeking a forward to bolster its front line, and Martial fit the bill.
A delegation from Rayados traveled to Madrid, Spain, where Martial underwent a full medical and physical evaluation on Friday. He passed all tests successfully, paving the way for the club to announce his signing.
When will Martial report for Rayados duty?
Martial is scheduled to land in Nuevo León on Tuesday, September 16, with his arrival expected in the morning. While his debut date remains uncertain, he will begin training with the team immediately upon arrival.
This marks Martial’s first professional experience outside of Europe. He began his career in the youth ranks of Olympique Lyonnais before moving to AS Monaco. His breakout came at Manchester United, where he spent nearly nine years. He also had stints with Sevilla and, most recently, AEK Athens.
Interestingly, Martial shared the locker room with Torres and Ocampos during his time in Spain - both of whom are now teammates again at Monterrey. His arrival adds to the growing list of international stars currently playing in Mexico, including Keylor Navas at Pumas, James Rodríguez at León, and Ángel Correa with Tigres.
