City head into the game looking to get their title defence off to a good start, despite being without some key players like Phil Foden.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are no doubt eager to begin life under Nuno Espirito Santo on a high note, with the Portuguese likely targeting his first silverware in the English top-flight.

Kane left out of Man City game

Both sides are set to release their starting line-ups an hour before kick-off, but before that, the main talking point, of course, has surrounded Harry Kane.

Kane is of course currently a Spurs player, but City have been heavily linked with the hitman all summer, with the latest update regarding the situation on Thursday having suggested that the Sky Blues are preparing a fresh proposal for his services:

And on Sunday, rumours over Kane’s future are once again no doubt set to continue after it has been reported that the hitman did not travel with Tottenham’s squad to face Man City

The reason given for this is due to his lack of fitness, but both sets of fans are no doubt set to speculate on other potential reasons.
