The Catalan club have switched up their usual colours for today’s game.

FC Barcelona are set to wear white shorts for their LaLiga game against Unión Deportiva Las Palmas on Saturday 30 November (8:00 a.m. ET / 5:00 a.m. PT.) and no, it’s not a tribute to Real Madrid.

The Catalan club recently celebrated their 125th anniversary and the decision to go with the change in kit colours is a tribute to a key moment in their history.

Believe it or not, the colour of their eternal rivals was in fact present on the earliest Barcelona kits, as the Catalans began their journey as a club with white shorts. As such, today’s change is a tribute to their very first kits that combined the blaugrana shirts with white shorts and dark socks.

It’s not the first time Barça have worn white in their history: a now famous kit from the 1970s was white and the club recently copied it for one of their away jerseys.

What is the patch on the Barcelona shirts against Las Palmas?

As well as the nod to Real Madrid - I’m joking! - Barcelona will also sport a special badge that celebrates 125 years of the club.

A simplified version of the club badge is surrounded by the birth year of the club is present on the upper-left section of the shirt, given the fact that the current club badge is placed centrally this year.
