Wilshere insists he is 'fit, ready & available for offers…. but not from Spurs'

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has mocked Tottenham by claiming he will sign for any club, other than the North London side, in the January transfer window.

The former England international - who is currently a free agent following his release from Bournemouth in the summer - has said he is 'fit', 'ready' and 'available for offers' during a spoof Paddy Power video.

However, Wilshere - who was previously criticised for leading an anti-Tottenham chant following Arsenal's FA Cup win in 2015 - said he would not entertain an offers from The Lilywhites.

Wilshere teamed up with Paddy Power to create a hilarious video in which he announces his desire to return to the professional game.

The spoof clip sees two marketing execs kick-off their meeting by presenting their 'Retirement plans for Jack Wilshere'.

However, despite leaving Bournemouth over six months ago, Wilshere said he had not decided to hang his boots up just yet.

As a result, the duo skip past their suggested retirement plan, which included an I'm A Celebrity appearance and the launch of his of his own NFT.

Instead, Wilshere is presented with a 'digital strategy' for getting him back in the game.

The marketing pair highlight the importance of a digital strategy, claiming 38-year-old Ben Foster has managed to 'stay relevant' by strapping a GoPro to his head 'every time he takes a pre-game dump'.

The England international is then set the task of writing the perfect apology. The Paddy Power team take the opportunity to mock Bruno Fernandes during this scene.

Wilshere shares his attempt at a real-world example by saying: 'Sorry I forgot to take the bins out this week. Wasn't good enough, and not what the house deserves.' Before rounding it off with: 'We go again next week.'

Viewers are then taken on a journey of the creation of Wilshere's 'digital dossier', which includes him doing keepie-uppies, eating a sandwich to symbolise his 'hunger' to return to football and strapping a GoPro to his head to film his breakfast.

Wilshere finally snaps and says he wants to keep things simple. As a result, he turns to the camera and says: 'Jack Wilshere. Fit, ready and available for offers.'

Before adding: 'Just not from Tottenham'.

A spokesperson for Paddy Power reflected on the clip and Wilshere's involvement. They said: 'Jack Wilshere hasn't actually retired from football yet – who knew?! He's still a top professional though, so we wanted to do our bit to help him get back in the game.

'But, being pretty good at football just won't cut it anymore – you have to excel in other areas, such as having millions of Instagram followers, or filming yourself eating breakfast for your TikTok channel.

'Thankfully, Jack understood the need to improve his digital profile and really threw himself into the process. In fact, I'd go as far to say that his acting display was an even better performance than that night against Barcelona.'

Wilshere previously admitted that retirement had crossed his mind, but later said he felt like he could continue his career in 2022.

Despite keeping up his fitness levels at his old club Arsenal, a new deal with the Gunners is not on the table. Therefore, he is open to offers from other clubs.

However, he will not join Arsenal's North London rivals Tottenham. The midfielder has made his sentiments about Spurs known on multiple occasions.

He was even criticsed for taking the microphone and starting up a chant that mocked Spurs following Arsenal's FA Cup triumph over Aston Villa in 2015.
