Wrexham are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market after smashing their transfer record for a former Premier League striker just days ago.
Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have bolstered Phil Parkinson's squad with several new stars this summer, after Wrexham became the first team in the history of English football's top five divisions to earn three successive promotions last season.
The Welsh club, whose first matches in the Championship came with defeats against Southampton and West Brom, are closing in on Manchester City defender Callum Doyle for a fee worth in the region of £8million.
It comes just days after Wrexham confirmed the record signing of Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town, who penned a four-year contract at the Racecourse Ground in a deal worth an initial £7.5m, with £2.5m in add-ons.
Sheffield United and Rangers had expressed interest in Doyle, 21, but are no longer believed to be in the running after Wrexham jumped ahead in the transfer race.
The centre-back has played over 100 games at Championship level during loan spells with Sunderland, Coventry, Leicester and Norwich.
Signing Doyle for a fee in the region of £8m would take Wrexham's summer transfer spend to approximately £18m, having already welcomed 10 new players through the door at the Racecourse Ground including Lewis O'Brien, Kieffer Moore and former England international Conor Coady.
Meanwhile, fellow Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji has emerged a key transfer target for Galatasaray.
The Turkish giants are believed to have made contact with City over the possibility of signing Akanji, who has been a regular fixture in Pep Guardiola's squad since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.
Given the 30-year-old star has just two years left on his deal, the former Premier League champions may opt to cash in on Akanji now rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in the near future.
Galatasaray's interest in the Swiss international comes after the Turkish club were also linked with a move for Ederson, who was left out of the 3-0 win at Wolves on the opening weekend because of illness.
