A mascot at the Sporting Lisbon versus Marseille game was seen recreating Cristiano Ronaldo's new 'peace of mind' celebration.

Ronaldo's influence is clearly still strong, with the mascot copying the Manchester United star's celebration.

The mascot was seen on camera ahead of Sporting Lisbon's 2-0 defeat to Marseille in a group stage game on Wednesday.

Ronaldo, who started out at Sporting Lisbon, recently performed the celebration when he scored the 700th goal of his club career as he netted for United against Everton last weekend.

While celebrating, Ronaldo and his team-mate Antony stood upright with their heads back, eyes closed, and fingers crossed in front of their chests.

Reflecting on the mascot performing the celebration, one Twitter user wrote: 'The Ronaldo effect never ceases to amaze me.'

Another wrote: 'The CR7 effect'.

Another added: 'Wow this is amazing'.

Meanwhile, another wrote:  'Haha go on kiddo'.

According to Manchester United's official website, the celebration is a self-deprecating in-joke between Ronaldo and his team-mates.

Ronaldo is renowned for keeping himself in good shape off the pitch and also ensures that he gets plenty of rest.

The celebration represents the position in Ronaldo sleeps when he is travelling with the squad.
