According to Mundo Deportivo, La Liga president Javier Tebas responded on Friday to a letter from Barcelona president Rafa Yuste. Yuste sent official letters on Wednesday to La Liga, the Royal Spanish Football Federation, and the Technical Committee of Referees, urging them to "defend the reputation of their respective organizations and to urgently take appropriate legal measures regarding the statements made by Mr. Florentino Pérez on May 12 and 13, in order to uphold the honor, integrity, and prestige of the institutions they represent and the competitions they organize."

In the letter obtained by Mundo Deportivo, Tebas expressed concern about public statements that undermine the values defended by the three institutions. He reiterated that these statements are unacceptable because they lack substantiated evidence, such as Real Madrid's repeated allegations of referee bribery in the "Negreira case," which Florentino Pérez has been raising for months.

Tebas agreed with Yuste's complaint and reminded him that La Liga has repeatedly and publicly condemned Real Madrid's conduct through official channels. He cited examples including formal complaints submitted to the Spanish Football Federation's Competition Committee, appeals to the Spanish Sports Administrative Court (TAD), and La Liga's public defense of Spain's refereeing system in 2025. Tebas also noted that La Liga has condemned Real Madrid's board for demanding reforms to the refereeing system and the removal of referees potentially connected to Negreira's previous role on the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA).
