Zidane: I ask Real Madrid to play like never before against Bayern Munich

After a win over Leganes on Saturday, Zinedine Zidane wants his Real Madrid team to play the game of their lives when Bayern Munich come to town for the Champions League semi-final second leg.

Some in Germany have discussed how Los Blancos are Bayern's bogey team, but such a notion was dismissed by the Real boss ahead of Tuesday's clash.

"They will come without complexes, I tell you," remarked Zidane to reporters.

"We are going to take part in a huge match.

"I ask my people to play like they have never done in their history, because we are going to need them to reach the final.

"I don't know if what happened to us against Juventus [in the quarter-final second leg] and Bayern last year helps us.

"We have to play a huge match. We have to be as good as ever to be able to qualify.

"We are prepared and have great determination. We will play our game of the year."

A stuttering performance saw Madrid past neighbours Leganes on Saturday, with Zidane deploying many of his fringe players and admitting that he wasn't entirely happy with the circumstance he found himself in.

"I was angry with myself today, for some things, but not with the players," he continued.

"I am happy with the attitude of my players, it has been exemplary. The first half was phenomenal.

"We cannot be happy with what we have done in LaLiga, because we lost many points at the beginning."

Gareth Bale notched the opener at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and later took the captain's armband, despite being linked with a move away, and the Madrid coach stated what the winger needs to do to impress him.

"He has to keep working," summarised Zidane. "Like he did today."
