Zidane appoints former Juve chef as France team's head cook

According to ANSA, Zidane has invited former Juventus chef Roberto Favaro to join the French national team, where he will be responsible for the team's catering.

Thirty years later, their paths have crossed again. Zidane, who raved about Turin chef Favaro's dishes during his Juventus years in the 1990s, has now, as coach of the French team, reunited with his old partner by appointing him national team chef. Favaro's signature dish was "Zidane-style pasta" – ridged pasta with Pachino cherry tomatoes and basil, a dish Zidane particularly loved back then.

According to Le Parisien, Favaro's "star story" began in an unassuming family restaurant, which gradually became a gathering place for Juventus players and eventually led to him becoming their official chef. Their collaboration was so strong that when Juventus players reported for national team duty, they found it difficult to adapt to dishes prepared by other chefs using different ingredients and methods. During Euro 2000, while Zidane was playing for France in the Netherlands, he reportedly complained to Favaro over the phone: "I can't stand overcooked pasta anymore." Favaro immediately drove to the Netherlands with fresh pasta, olive oil, basil, and tomatoes. Now, the two are reunited. Favaro, who owns a restaurant in Cap d'Antibes on the French Riviera, near the Principality of Monaco, will be responsible for the French team's catering and will prepare the famous "Zidane-style pasta" for the team.
