2027 Spanish Super Cup clash with Asian Cup; RFEF is looking for another city

According to a recent report by The Athletic, RFEF is considering changing the host country of the 2027 Spanish Super Cup from Saudi Arabia to another Middle Eastern country.

According to reports, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) had previously signed a contract with Saudi Arabia to host the Spanish Super Cup until 2029. However, due to Saudi Arabia hosting the Asian Cup next year, and the scheduling conflicting with the Spanish Super Cup, the RFEF is currently searching for an alternative host country in the Middle East.

If the 2027 Spanish Super Cup is still held in Saudi Arabia, the RFEF and the Saudi Football Federation will consider extending the agreement to 2030 or longer. Sources involved in the negotiations say that the two sides have been negotiating for several months and will continue negotiations using this week's match as an opportunity.

Other sources familiar with the matter indicated that the contract also includes a clause requiring the RFEF to provide expertise, skills, and technology. The Saudi Football Federation believes these aspects have not yet been implemented and is therefore demanding that the RFEF implement them as soon as possible, or they will deduct the relevant fees from the RFEF's revenue.
