According to AS, Barcelona continue their attempt to sign Alvarez despite the deal's difficulty and time constraints.
Barcelona made a significant push when sporting director Deco met with the Argentine's agent, Fernando Hidalgo, in Madrid. The meeting prompted Barcelona to adjust their strategy for signing the forward. Rather than waiting for Alvarez to publicly declare his desire to leave—as he did during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar when he stated he "wanted to fulfill a dream"—Barcelona will now pursue direct communication and negotiation.
Alvarez will return to training as scheduled without making public statements. He will then meet with the coach and communicate with club management to clearly express his desire to leave Atlético Madrid and join Barcelona exclusively.
Given that Simeone and Miguel Ángel Gil have previously refused to let the player leave, it remains uncertain whether this approach will succeed. All parties must now decide whether to retain a player who has openly expressed his wish to depart. The player and his agent will remind Atlético Madrid of their previous understanding: if an attractive offer materialized, they would permit his departure.
While Alvarez considers Barcelona's offer attractive for both parties, Atlético Madrid disagrees. Typically, such player-club negotiations are accompanied by a significant financial increase. Barcelona's initial offer fell below €100 million, then reached that figure, and now stands at approximately €120 million.

why not go for Haaland with 180-200 mil (payable in few windows) instead of 120-150 mil Alvarez and Rodri(60-70) we already have good midfielders. Alvarez is good but short (170cm) and has less goals to his name. Haaland is a beast and can play /run and score loads of goals. also fits in perfectly like Lewandowski. he even played under pep like barca style
even Haaland's salary pay will be less than (rodri 30mil+ Alvarez 20mil)

Does City look like a small club you can just take their best striker ? 😂🤣🤣🤣 moreover Haaland just signed a 7½ year contract last season. Zero chance to get him.

If care is not taken this deal will surpass €150-160m but its a big bet to invest more than €140m for alvarez, though he’s good with link-up play but he’s goal scoring ability is inconsistent
Pay 180mil or get lost. Cheapo club.

If he work with rodri, pedri, olmo, dejong and yamal including raphinha I believe he will score many goals

The main point of this whole situation is that Álvarez wants Barça, and Barça wants Álvarez. So, I feel that in the end, even though Atlético don’t want the deal to happen, Álvarez will eventually join Barça and it will be the final conclusion of this topic.
