AS: Mourinho submits transfer report to Real Madrid, outlines positions but no specific players

According to reports from AS, Real Madrid has received a reinforcement report from Mourinho, outlining positions he wishes to strengthen. He hopes to reinforce the full-back and center-back positions, and also bring in two midfielders: one defensive midfielder and one creative midfielder. The club presidential election has put all work on hold for now.

The report states that Mourinho's return to Real Madrid as coach was steadily progressing, but has now been completely paused due to the club presidential election. Florentino and Mourinho had reached a comprehensive cooperation agreement, with both parties agreeing to a 2-year coaching contract, which would automatically extend for 1 year if the team won the league title.

Currently, everything is on hold, and the relevant signing processes will only begin after Florentino successfully wins re-election as president. If his bid is unsuccessful, Mourinho has no intention of staying at Benfica and will choose other coaching offers he has received. At this stage, he has also submitted a report on squad reinforcements to the club.

Despite the current situation, Mourinho has submitted his squad reinforcement requests to Real Madrid. He did not specify particular players, but AS has outlined the positions he hopes to strengthen, indicating that the team's upcoming transfer tasks will not be easy. The coach plans to sign 1-2 center-backs, 1-2 full-backs, and two midfielders with different styles.

Mourinho meticulously analyzed the team's shortcomings based on recent match performance and the current squad situation to complete this transfer report. His team-building philosophy is very clear: first, sign 1-2 center-backs; the right-back position needs a player who can make an immediate impact, followed by a left-back; two midfield signings are paramount, one being a defensive midfielder to compete and rotate with Tchouaméni, and the other a creative midfielder, similar in style to the Norwegian player Aursnes whom he coached at Benfica, a type of player currently lacking in Real Madrid's squad. The team's attacking lineup is stable and well-stocked, requiring virtually no adjustments.

The Portuguese coach only specified the positions that needed strengthening and did not mention any target players. Real Madrid also understands that the squad needs adjustment, and at the same time, the club has put forward a realistic condition: to sign new players, some existing players must first be offloaded.

Currently, Alaba and Carvajal's contracts are expiring, and their departures are a certainty. Ceballos and Camavinga are also on the departure list, and Rüdiger's contract extension has not been officially finalized. If Fran García leaves, Mourinho will also request to sign another left-back. The overall direction of personnel changes for the team is largely clear, with the futures of several players uncertain. Although the current management is still performing its duties and can carry out transfer operations, the presidential election has completely halted the team's summer transfer plans.

Mourinho originally planned to officially move into Real Madrid's Valdebebas training base in early June, fully dedicating himself to preparing for the new season and working with club executives on player transfers in and out. To coach Real Madrid, he chose to leave Benfica, eager to achieve his goal here – to lead Real Madrid to another Champions League title, having previously guided the team to the Champions League semi-finals three times.

When he decided to take over the Real Madrid helm, he only made two demands: that the club listen to his advice on transfers, focusing on the positions he identified for reinforcement rather than rigidly specifying players; and that the responsibilities of each club department be clear and mutually non-interfering, thereby ensuring the smooth operation of all team affairs.
