Al Nassr are 'hoping to bring in Barcelona's Sergio Busquets' on a free transfer, but could face a dilemma if they do land his signature.
The 34-year-old will be out of contract in June after over 700 games for Barca, and has also been courted by Inter Miami in recent months.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi side, who already name Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks after signing the striker in January, 'have approached' Busquets but the midfielder is yet to decide if he will stay at the Nou Camp.
If he does move to the Riyadh-based club, it will mean removing one overseas player from their current squad.
Saudi Pro League teams are currently only allowed to register seven foreign players, although there has been talk of expanding this amid hopes Ronaldo's presence can boost the competition's profile.
The system meant that Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar, who famously scored a sublime chip against Serbia in last year's World Cup, left Al Nassr in January to make way for Ronaldo's arrival.
He has since returned to Turkish side Besiktas for a third spell at the club. The striker recently revealed he was given the option of staying and seeing another player leave, but chose to go to avoid reduced game time.
If Busquets was to join the club, they will presumably be willing to shed another midfielder, leaving Argentine international Pity Martinez and Uzbekistan's Jaloliddin Masharipov the two players most obviously in the firing line.
One of the pair would have likely left earlier this year if Aboubakar had decided to stay.
It would be something of a coup for the Saudi side, as the 34-year-old would arrive with a wealth of experience after winning nine La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, a World Cup and a Euros.
He would add to a squad that already boasts an ageing but in-form Ronaldo, who scored four goals in half an hour last week to reach 500 league goals in his career.
The 38-year-old made it clear he has not lost his killer instinct, as he offered an anguished protest when his side missed a late chance despite having already won the game comfortably.
Ronaldo has now managed five goals in three games for Al-Nassr, who sit top of the Saudi Pro League on goal difference above Al-Shadab, with a game in hand.
