Julian Alvarez was happy to play up the magnitude of Argentina's 4-1 victory over Brazil in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday.
Alvarez opened the scoring in the fourth minute in Buenos Aires and the match later became a rout as the home team celebrated qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in style.
Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister and Giuliano Simeone also found the net, with Matheus Cunha grabbing a goal for the Selecao.
"We humbly did our job and played a great game. We gave them a show,” said Alvarez.
"It was a historic result, winning by 4-1, and that makes us really proud, I'm so happy for the fans, for helping the team and to see how we played an impressive game at home.
"It's great to know that we are qualified for the World Cup."
Argentina had already qualified for the World Cup prior to this match kicking off, after Uruguay had held Bolivia to a goalless draw earlier, meaning that they could not drop below sixth in the CONMEBOL qualification table.
Regardless of having nothing to play for, Argentina put in an eye-catching performance in a statement win.
The victory marked the first time that Argentina have done the double over Brazil in World Cup qualifying, while it was their first home victory over their rivals since their qualifying campaign for the 2006 World Cup.
Head coach Lionel Scaloni, who was without both Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez, was delighted with his team's adaptability and ability to work for one another on the pitch.
"This is a team victory. We played as a team, and that is why we were able to minimise Brazil," Scaloni said at his post-match press conference.
"I really don't know if it's our greatest victory, we have played great games and doing great things in them.
"A team has to know what to do in different situations, and tonight, the boys did great."
Defending champions Argentina are the fourth team aside from the three co-hosts (Mexico, Canada and the United States) to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, alongside Japan, Iran and New Zealand.

This Boy fits 💯 in Barça style of play don’t know why Barça didn’t really push hard signing him from River plates though it turned out to be a good decision cus him signing for Barça won’t have made him completed football at such an Age…
