Arsenal have been linked with former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez alongside Barcelona and the Argentine’s agent has now spoken out on a potential move away from Atletico Madrid

Julian Alvarez's agent has told Arsenal to lodge a bid for the forward despite suggesting that he remains ‘committed’ to Atletico Madrid. The Argentine forward is a long term target of the Gunners, having considered a move in the summer.

Ultimately, Arsenal decided to move for Viktor Gyokeres instead, albeit he has struggled for consistency so far in North London. That has seen Arsenal renew their interest in Alvarez, with ESPN reporting that they are considering a summer move.

Barcelona are also apparently among the sides interested in signing Alvarez. The 25-year-old’s agent has now spoken out and suggested any club interested in him should formalise their move but his client is not considering an exit at the current time.

Speaking to Eremnews via Sport, Fernando Hidalgo, said: “Any club interested in Julian should contact Atletico Madrid’s management, as the player is under contract and committed to the club. It’s not true, I haven’t met with Deco or anyone from Barcelona during the current period.”

Alvarez has already spoken out on his future this season amid reports he could leave Atletico Madrid. He said: “Look, it doesn’t bother me. I try not to pay much attention, but I know what’s being said.

“It’s all over social media. I think it’s more what’s being said online than what’s actually happening.

“I’m very focused on this season, on what lies ahead with Atletico Madrid. So, I try to tune it out and think about myself, about continuing to grow as a player, and about winning.”

Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City for £81.8 million back in 2024 and he has gone on to make 85 appearances for the Spanish giants and scored 40 goals - 11 of which have come this season.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta played a huge role in that move, having previously worked for Atletico Madrid before his arrival in North London. Alvarez remains under contract in Spain until 2030.

The Argentine will be aiming to extend his excellent form for his current employers this weekend as Diego Simeone’s men do battle with Mallorca at the Wanda Metropolitano. Atleti are currently fourth and eight points behind leaders Barcelona.

Alvarez won two Premier League titles during his time with Man City, as well as the FA Cup and the Champions League but is yet to win any silverware in Spain.
