Ancelotti omits Vinicius for forthcoming Brazil World Cup qualifiers

The dates for the September FIFA international match days loom ever closer as the CONMEBOL qualifying group enters the final stretch with the final two games set to be played early next month.

With just two matches remaining in South America to determine who qualifies for the 2026 World Cup, Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador have already secured their presence at next year’s big event with Uruguay and Paraguay in strong positions.

The CBF (Brazilian FA) have confirmed that the official roster for its final two matches before the 2026 World Cup will be presented on August 25 in Rio de Janeiro. The Canarinha will host Chile in Rio de Janeiro (September 5) and visit Bolivia in El Alto (September 10).

According to Globo Esporte, Ancelotti will not include Vinicius in the squad for those two matches. The Real Madrid winger, is suspended for the Chile game after receiving a yellow card in the Paraguay game and will serve a one game suspension against Chile. The Italian coach has decided to not call up the winger for the next game against Bolivia. This decision will see the winger avoid playing at more than 4,100 meters above sea level in Villa Ingenio, where Bolivia are playing home matches after the 2024 Copa América.

Rodrygo, Neymar and Militão get the nod

Globo Esporte also maintain that his Real Madrid teammates, Rodrygo and Militão will be included in the list. Both players were not included in Ancelotti’s initial squad in June, when they played against Ecuador and Paraguay and secured 2026 World Cup qualification. Both missed those matches due to injury, so they are making their debut representing their country with their former manager at their club.

It’s also speculated that Neymar, who is now back in Brazil playing with his former side Santos will be included in the forthcoming Seleçao squad.
