Antonio Rudiger was involved in a bizarre exchange with a reporter after Germany's 2-1 win over Italy on Thursday night.
The Real Madrid star played the full 90 minutes as Germany came from behind to win their Nations League quarter-final first leg and take a major step towards the last four.
Following the match, Rudiger went into the mixed zone to speak to reporters about the game.
One member of the media appeared to be a little over-eager as they raised their microphone towards Rudiger's face while he was talking, causing the centre back to lean back to avoid it as he raised his eyebrows in surprise.
The video released by Bild showed Rudiger looking at the reporter and muttering 'are you trying to kill me!?' before continuing to give his assessment of the game without a moment's pause.
A wry smile broke across Rudiger's face as he made the comment, indicating that he was not being serious, but it was still an odd moment between the player and the reporter.
Many Premier League fans will be aware of Rudiger's quirky character from his five years at Chelsea between 2017 and 2022.
He won five major trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge, including the Champions League and FA Cup.
But he is also known for his odd running style which sees him over-exaggerate lifting his knees.
After scoring the winning penalty in Real's shootout win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League earlier this month, Rudiger celebrated by doing his iconic running motion.
His team-mates imitated him as they ran the length of the Wanda Metropolitano pitch to celebrate with their travelling fans.
Rudiger will return to England next month when Real take on Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals.
