Argentine F1 Driver Colapinto: We and spain are both latin nations, there's no need for hostility

According to Sport, some Argentines are still bitter about losing the FIFA World Cup final. Now, Franco Colapinto, the well-known Argentine F1 driver, has added fuel to the fire of this debate.

In an interview with ESPN, he openly criticized the way the Spanish celebrated after winning the championship.

When asked about the phenomenon of Spanish jerseys being seen everywhere during the FIFA World Cup, Colapinto bluntly stated: "They put on Spanish jerseys overnight; they didn't before. It's really shameful." He added mercilessly that Spanish fans "don't even have cheering songs," while Argentine fan groups have developed various highly creative songs. He even mentioned that some people tried to "burn Messi's jersey" – at this point, the reporter, seeing the conversation veering off course, changed the subject.

In an interview with two Spanish drivers, Alonso and Sainz, before the Hungarian Grand Prix, Colapinto again brought up the topic of cheering songs: "They are deserved champions... but I hope their cheering songs can improve a bit. They need to be more creative; it's too boring."

He also expressed his dislike for the animosity between the two countries caused by this match: "We are all Latin countries, which is good, but the differences between the two countries seem to create enemies. Messi once played for Barcelona and brought us countless joys, but now it seems to have become a war between nations, which is not good. Burning Messi's jersey, I don't think that's good."

Colapinto is not the only Argentine who "expressed dissatisfaction" with the Spanish celebration, believing it to be too bland. However, in Spain, people believe this reflects more a difference in perception and common sense, which does not affect their enthusiasm for celebrating victory.
