It was a 27th birthday to remember for Santiago Arias who celebrated by delivering one of his most complete performances at Atletico Madrid as he defended with solidity and offered support in attack as reliably as ever.
Against Levante he was everywhere, winning each of his seven first half duels.
Looking more and more settled on Atleti's right, Arias has become first choice for Diego Simeone who knows they player's value both going forward and while the team are without the ball.
Filipe Luis and Juanfran were once undisputed on either side, but they appear set to move on when their contracts end on June 30 and Simeone has a succession plan in place.
On the left there is Lucas Hernandez, who the Rojiblancos are hoping they can keep until the summer.
Although he prefers to play in the centre of defence, he has proven capable of operating on the left as well.
With the player agreeing to join Bayern Munich, Atleti chief Miguel Angel Gil Martin is doing all he can to delay the move until the end of the season.

It’s so hard to choose between Juanfran and Arias as they are way too good to be on the bench...they proved themselves in the Levante game, just simply quality
