Arsenal chief Berta targeting Elche prospect Mendoza

Spain's Informacion says Arsenal sports chief Andrea Berta plans to return to LaLiga for the midfield prospect.

Berta knows all about Mendoza thanks to his time in charge of Atletico Madrid and sees him as an ideal addition in January.

The 20 year-old's contract carries a €20m buyout clause and he has been a regular for surprise packet Elche after this season's return to LaLiga.

Indeed, such has been Mendoza's impact that Arsenal will face competition from  Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus should they firm up their interest.
