Athletic Bilbao coach Marcelino has accepted Unai Simon's decision to commit to Spain's Olympics squad.
After starring in Spain's run to the Euro 2020 semifinals, Simon is now set to travel to Tokyo for the summer Games.
Marcelino said, "The boy has to rest after Tokyo. The responsibility is great, defending the national team carries a significant emotional charge.
"He was pretty good. We must congratulate him because he has managed to overcome a difficult situation. His response has been very good. I am very happy with his performance. He has become great."
