Athletic Club vice-president Mikel Martinez, who is also a doctor and head of A&E at the Basurto Hospital, believes returning to play matches in May would be a bit premature.
LaLiga have previously stated that they'd like to restart the season in May if possible, with a view of finishing it in time to start next season.
"Speaking about sporting events returning in May is almost reckless," Martinez told El Pais.
"I don't think it's possible.
"Things are improving a bit, but if we lose control, we run the risk of things escalating again."
Spain's finance minister, Maris Jesus Montero, has outlined plans for normal life to start to resume after April 26.
"It will go bit by bit," Martinez said on returning to normality.
"First, industries will come back, then you'll be able to take your children out [of the house], to do sport or to walk in small groups...
"I don't think it's about lifting quarantine and playing straightaway."
