Spain's top three have had differing summer transfer windows, with Barcelona and Real Madrid adding depth while Atletico Madrid strengthened their starting XI and, as a result, increased their options off the bench.
Barcelona
Ernesto Valverde is continuing with is 4-3-3 formation and while the squad continue to perform to such high standard, there is no room for any of the new arrivals in the line-up.
The position most up for grabs was Ousmane Dembele's, but he has proven to be an important player, leaving Malcom waiting.
Arturo Vidal appears to be a fixed substitute at the moment, while Arthur has barely been allowed to build on his positive pre-season performances.
Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti's bond at the back has confined Clement Lenglet to being third choice.
Real Madrid
Thibaut Courtois has now debuted and will look to lock down the goalkeeper's position at Madrid.
Beyond the Belgian, Mariano Diaz, Alvardo Odriozola and Vinicius Junior will find it very hard to establish themselves as starters.
Mariano has not had time to show his growth in Ligue 1 and Vinicius is finding his feet in Castilla.
Odriozola meanwhile is being held back by the injury he picked up in pre-season.
Atletico Madrid
Against Celta, Atletico's bench alone cost them 115 million euros this summer.
Rodrigo's quick adaptation or Thomas Lemar's bright start were not enough to convince Diego Simeone to start them.
He even opted for Stefan Savic at right-back as Juanfran's replacement, leaving Santiago Arias on the bench, despite him being the Dutch league's best player last season.
Lemar, Arias and Nikola Kalinic came on as Atleti looked to save the game, but they did little as Simeone's side struggled to ever disturb Celta's goal.
