A muscle injury has sidelined Joao Felix since January 29, but a new illness has become extra obstacle in his efforts to return in time for the game against Liverpool on February 17.
The Portuguese youngster suffers from pharyngotonsillitis and hasn't followed his recovery process for the last two days.
Joao Felix has already missed the derby against Real Madrid and Saturday's 1-0 win over Granada and he is struggling to return to full fitness before the upcoming Champions League encounter.
He will receive medical treatment and will rest before going back to Atletico's training ground to continue with his recovery.
